Happy Holidays
It’s been way too long since the last post, but I wanted to check in. The election then holidays then shopping and now more holidays are giving way to very little free time. However, they’re also reminding me why I created this site to begin with. The holidays are about family, celebration, and love. Many people won’t get to spend this holiday season with their families because of issues being out to their families or with acceptance of their partner. Those of us who have been blessed with (at least somewhat) accepting families have a lot to be thankful for.
So, be thankful, be happy, and make the yuletide gay. Very gay.

Hi, I’m very glad to have come across your webpage! I have just moved to Augusta from Atlanta to serve with Americorps for a year. I am very nervous about being in a smaller town, especially after having read your earlier posts about how unsafe it is for gay people in Augusta. Nonetheless, I hope that I will meet some positive, safe people while I spend my service year in the city.

Kim – Welcome!
I wouldn’t say that Augusta is necessarily unsafe, but it’s definately not welcoming. I have more than a handful of friends outside the gay community that are accepting, but at the same time I wouldn’t hold my partner’s hand on the street. I hope that as issues like gay marriage and Dont Ask Don’t Tell are discussed in public forums, more people will drop their defensive, hateful positions.
I hope you are enjoying your time in Augusta. Check out the (in progress) links page for more local resources and please let others know about the site as well. With more readership and input, the site can grow to be a great resource for our local gay community.
